May is a popular month for festivals, while December welcomes an influx of visitors who want to take advantage of the shopping centres and festive Farmers’ Market.
Thanks to its electric nightlife scene and sights like Newcastle Castle and the Gateshead Millennium Bridge, Newcastle is a city break titan pretty much all year round. That said, if you visit outside the busy summer months (especially in the school holidays) and the Christmas period, you’re sure to experience lesser crowds.
