Anissaras Holidays

A rugged, relaxing corner of Crete

If you’re looking for a peaceful resort in Crete, then Anissaras holidays have you covered. Here you’ll find a clutch of great hotels in a picturesque hilly corner of the island’s northern coast. Much of Anissaras’s appeal lies in its beautiful natural scenery. Its windswept coastline is rugged, rocky and dotted with tiny beaches known as ‘limanakia’ (little harbours). There are golden beaches on which to relax and sunbathe on in front of the hotels, as well as glass-clear water where snorkellers and divers wonder at a the wide range of marine life.

Few cars make it here, meaning holidays to Anissaras feel delightfully off the beaten track. After you’ve had enough R&R and topped up your tan, if you want to mix things up, Hersonissos – one of the liveliest resorts in Crete – is less than 1.5 kilometres away. Just stroll a short way along the coast, where you can enjoy its wide range of shops, restaurants, tavernas and unbeatable nightlife. For beach fun and more besides, it’s all here in Anissaras.

Your Anissaras questions, answered

Anissaris is a peaceful resort with a couple of mini markets and bars, but its location close to Hersonissos means you can dip in and out of somewhere more lively.
The beaches here are man-made, so a mixture of sand and shingle. Hotel beaches tend to have sunloungers available, but if you’re not staying at one you should ask permission before setting up on their sand.
Crete’s vibrant capital city, Heraklion, is only 21 kilometres away. Spending a day exploring its museums, ancient port and archaeological sites makes for a fascinating and fun outing.
