Cala d'Or Holidays

Family favourite with golden coves

With a name derived from its sun-kissed coastline, Cala d’Or – or Golden Bay – is one of the most popular family-friendly resorts on Majorca. Visitors are drawn to its beautifully elongated inlets, where low cliffs and woodland enclose fingers of white powder sand and clear turquoise water. What also makes this former fishing village rather special is its Ibiza-inspired architecture – all whitewashed and rounded cubes with nothing built higher than a few storeys.

But there’s plenty more to Cala d’Or holidays. Head to its pedestrianised zone to enjoy the buzzy resort centre, with its enormous choice of cafés and restaurants, sun-soaked terraces and family-oriented menus. Holidays to Cala d’Or even offer some opportunities for shopping nearby, including a handful of chic boutiques. For waterfront dining options, you’ll find plenty lining the resort’s impressive marina – which is one of the largest on the island.

Your Cala d’Or questions, answered

Like most of Majorca’s popular holiday resorts, Cala d’Or is busiest during the summer months. For quieter coves, visit in September or October when the summer bustle recedes.
While the resort is popular with families, couples will also find plenty to enjoy in Cala d’Or, especially in the quieter areas away from the main beach.
If you’re looking for a wild night out, Cala d’Or is not for you. However, there are still lots of colourful cocktail bars to enjoy.
