Is Bol on Brac Island?

Yes. The town of Bol – and its iconic Zlatni Rat beach – is located on the southern coast of Brac Island, which in turn sits just off the coast of Split.

How do I get there?

There are regular ferries from the mainland coastal hubs of Split or Makarska to Brac Island. From Split, the ferry to Supetar takes 50 minutes, while it takes an hour from Makarska.

How big is the island?

Covering an area of 153 square miles, Brac is Croatia’s third-largest island. It’s also the longest island in the Adriatic and, as it has the highest peak, the most elevated, too.

Best things to do

Climb Vidova Gora
To reach the impressive peaks of Vidova Gora, you’ll have to do a three-hour climb from the outskirts of Bol. As you hike, you’ll be rewarded by sweeping views of the mainland and Hvar Island.
Go windsurfing
Thanks to the light breeze that blows around this area, Brac Island is a well-known windsurfing hotspot. Rent some gear, then head to Zlatni Rat to have a go yourself.
Find the dragon’s cave
The hamlet of Murvica is one of Brac Island’s best-kept secrets. Here, you’ll find karst caverns once occupied by 15th-century monks, including The Dragon Cave so-called because of the relief of a dragon carved into it.
