At the Airport

At the aiport

Plan your journey to the airport in advance so that you have a smooth and stress-free start to your holiday.

Make sure you arrive at the airport early enough so you don't have to rush, especially during school holidays, as this is when the check-in counters are at their busiest. Allow enough time for unforeseen events such as traffic jams or train cancellations. Remember that bag drop at most UK airports closes 40 minutes before the flight departs, or even 60 minutes at some airports and for some destinations. Or check if the airport you're flying from has twilight bag drop and you can already drop your bags the evening before your flight, giving you even more time on the day of travel.

Check which terminal your flight departs from on the easyJet mobile app and pre-book your airport parking, airport lounges and any other extras, like seats, extra luggage and not to forget travel insurance, that will make your holiday get off to a hassle-free start.

If you require assisted travel, please contact the team

When you arrive at the airport, check you have all the documents with you or download your travel documents to your phone. Travel updates and flight times are displayed at various points in the airport or you can track your flight on the flight tracker on the website or in the app.

Keep your boarding passes and passports in a safe place so that you have everything handy when boarding.

After dropping your bags at the bag drop or the check-in counter, please make your way through security immediately.

During busy travel times the queues can be very long. Pack anything you won't need on the flight into your hold luggage (including liquids more than 100ml) and only keep your valuables, medication, entertainment options like a book or tablet, travel documents, and anything else you want on the plane into your small under seat cabin bag. Remember, if you haven't booked a large cabin bag, you can only bring a small cabin bag that must fit underneath the seat in front of you onto the plane (45 x 36 x 20 cm including wheels and handles).

Once you're through security you'll have enough time to go to the shops to stock up on books, magazines, food or anything else!

The boarding gate will be announced around 30 to 60 minutes before departure, sometimes earlier, so please keep an eye on the screens in the airport so that you arrive at the gate on time. Depending on the airport, it can take up to 15 minutes or longer to walk to the gate, so it's important that you make your way to the gate as soon as you have the information without having to rush.

While you wait for your gate to be announced re-read the 72 hours to go email that we sent you with the information on finding your transfer when you arrive. Sit back and relax or do some last-minute shopping. Remember that any alcohol you bring on board from the shops has to be unopened and can't be consumed during the flight.

At the gate, we use a queuing system for boarding passengers. Customers who have requested assisted travel in advance and are present at the gate will be asked to board first. Boarding is then carried out in the following order:

  • Families with children under five years of age
  • Customers with speedy boarding
  • All other customers

When it's time to return home, if you've got a transfer on your booking, it'll pick you up from your hotel early enough to get to the airport, drop your bags and go through security.

Some airports have more thorough security checks and others don't accept mobile boarding passes, so it can take longer to get to the gate. Have a read here to see specific information on the airport you're flying from.
