Often described as Prague in miniature, minus the crowds, compared to Salzburg for its setting and Vienna for its architecture, this city is a hodgepodge of European styles. Serbia’s chaotic capital city comes alive in the summer months, and June and July are lovely and warm, with temperatures often hitting the 30s, so a tan is guaranteed. It’s when the festivals are in town, the nightclubs booming, and the cobbled old town at its most atmospheric.

Avoid the crowds

Ljublana has the most comfortable temperatures in April and May and September and October. The days are still mild and perfect for sightseeing, and it’s nice enough to make the most of the al fresco terraces in the cafes and restaurants. You can expect lesser crowds and lower prices in these months, too.
