Restricted and unusual items

You can only carry liquids, aerosols and gels in containers of 100ml or less when you pass through security. They should all fit into one transparent, re-sealable 20cm x 20cm bag.

In total, each customer can carry a maximum of 1,000ml through security. You can buy more liquids in the departure lounge should you need them.

Alcohol
You can bring alcohol bought in the airside departure lounge into the cabin, as long as it’s unopened. Alcohol must be lower than 70% abv, and packed either in an airport shopping bag or in your cabin bag. It’s strictly forbidden to drink any alcohol that has not been purchased on board the aircraft and those found consuming their own alcohol may face prosecution.

Food
You can bring food into the cabin, although we do sell a range of delicious food and drink on board. There’s a 100ml limit for liquid food, like soup or custard. Different countries have different regulations about importing food and drink, so make sure you check the rules for your destination.

Hot drinks
You can bring hot drinks on board if you’ve bought them at the airport and they have a lid on.

Baby food and milk
The 100ml liquid limit doesn’t apply to baby food, milk or sterlised water, provided that the total amount is no more than 1 litre. You may be asked to taste it for security reasons. (See also: Flying with children.)

You can carry cigarettes in your cabin bag. (It’s worth checking how many cigarettes you’re allowed to bring into your destination country). Lighters can be taken on board but they must be carried in your pocket. Matches are not allowed on board.

You can carry e-cigarettes and a maximum of two spare batteries in your cabin bag – but not in the hold.

You can’t smoke any type of cigarette on the plane. It’s a criminal offence to do so.

Re-charging of e-cigarettes or vaping devices is strictly prohibited on board.

You can bring tweezers into the cabin, and scissors with rounded ends and blades less than 6cm long. Razor blades are only allowed in the cabin if they're set in plastic. Knives with a blade not exceeding 6cm can be taken on board. Other sharp objects are not allowed in the cabin. For more information please visit our dangerous goods page.

Animals are not allowed on our flights, apart from recognised registered guide and assistance dogs.

If you’d like to bring a wedding outfit on board, you’ll need to have a large cabin bag allowance. Our large cabin bag allowance is included with easyJet Plus, our FLEXI and Standard Plus fares, or it can be purchased separately.

It’s possible to purchase a specific wedding travel box that fits within our large cabin bag dimensions, or a garment bag that can be stored in the overhead lockers. Garment bags for wedding outfits don’t need to meet our usual cabin bag dimensions as long as they can be folded and stored easily.

Alternatively, wedding outfits can be checked into the hold as hold luggage.

If you’d like to bring a suit carrier or garment bag on board you’ll need to have a large cabin bag allowance. Our large cabin bag allowance is included with easyJet Plus, our FLEXI and Standard Plus fares, or it can be purchased separately.

Your suit carrier doesn’t need to meet our usual large cabin bag dimensions as long as it can be easily stored and folded in the overhead locker.

You can bring up to two sealed boxes (must be original packaging) of Christmas crackers in your cabin bag. However, we do recommend you pack them in your hold luggage to avoid any confusion at security.

Please be aware: some crackers contain novelty items that aren't allowed on board the aircraft. Some airports (like London Gatwick and London Stansted) don’t allow you to take crackers in your cabin bag so please check your airports website for up to date information before you travel.

Party poppers cannot be taken on board the aircraft or put in the hold.

You can take a maximum of 2.5kgs of dry ice in your cabin bag as long as it is only used to preserve perishable goods that are not classed as dangerous goods. Please let us know in advance by calling our Customer Service team.

You can take ashes with you in your cabin bag, as long as:

• you have a copy of the death certificate
• a copy of the cremation certificate and
• the ashes are securely packaged in an appropriate container.

Please let security staff at the airport know that you’re carrying ashes when passing through the security area.

Smart luggage is a bag that contains a lithium battery or power bank which is used to power itself or to recharge other devices. There are restrictions on the type of lithium batteries allowed. Please check here for more information.

In the hold
If the smart luggage is to be checked in and put in the hold, you need to  disconnect and remove the lithium battery/power bank from the smart luggage at Bag Drop and take it into the cabin with you. Any exposed terminals should be protected from short circuit.

In the cabin 
If the smart luggage is to be carried in the cabin, you need to disconnect and remove the lithium battery/power bank from the smart luggage, but it can stay in the bag.
 
In all cases, for safety reasons, the lithium battery/power bank needs to be disconnected, so if you are unable to remove it from your luggage, we won’t be able to accept the bag on board.

To take camera recording equipment on board you’ll need a large cabin bag allowance. Our large cabin bag allowance is included with easyJet Plus, our FLEXI and Standard Plus fares, or it can be purchased separately.

Cameras can be outside the size restrictions of normal baggage (maximum dimensions 63cm x 27cm x 28cm – length x width x height). They must be stored in the overhead locker length-wise, so that they take up the least amount of space possible. They are not required to travel inside a bag of any kind. They cannot be kept under the seat in front of you and you must be able to easily disconnect and remove the lithium battery.

Any instrument larger than 30cm x 120cm x 38cm like a double bass or harp can’t be taken on board the aircraft as cabin baggage. You’ll need to add hold luggage to your booking for these items. Please ensure it’s packed safely and securely.

We recommend you buy specialist travel insurance to cover your musical instrument before you travel.

The size of musical instrument you can bring on board as cabin baggage depends on your cabin bag allowance.

Any instrument larger than 30 x 117 x 38cm can’t be taken on board as cabin baggage unless you buy a separate seat for it (and it meets our safety requirements). Click here for more information.

We recommend you buy specialist travel insurance to cover your musical instrument before you travel.

Toner and/or print cartridges weighing less than 500g can be placed in your hold luggage. There aren't any restrictions on the number of cartridges that you can carry, but the combined weight of all cartridges must not exceed the 500g. Any cartridges heavier than 500g will not be permitted for carriage.

Camping stoves and fuel containers that contain a flammable liquid can only travel in the aircraft hold provided the container has been drained of all liquid before the flight. If you are carrying a used camping stove or fuel tank the empty fuel tank or container must be allowed to drain for at least 1 hour. The fuel tank or container must then be left uncapped for a minimum of 6 hours to allow any residual fuel to evaporate. The fuel tank or container must have the cap securely fastened and be wrapped in absorbent material, such as paper towels, and be placed in a polyethylene or equivalent bag. The top of the bag must then be sealed or gathered and closed with an elastic band or string.

Camping stoves and fuel containers cannot be taken on board the aircraft.
